Why is major college football a beauty pageant?

miss america 2007 and the eventual national champion are determined in the same way, and this is troublesome. the beauty pageant is even better-the models don't vote for themselves. in ncaa div.1a the coaches can vote for their own team-this is insane- ultimately the players pay the price-instead of their hard work being judged by the dictates of the gridiron, it is decided by money-hungry predators looking to line their pockets. they don't care about the game; if this is kept up people will turn away from itWhy is major college football a beauty pageant?

You qualify if you win these conferences:


SEC


Big 10


Big 12


ACC


Big East


Pac-10





4 at large qualify:


Notre Dame/ highest BCS standings/ Any undefeated team in Div-1





Have the 4 bowls be the first round.





The 4 winners play each other based on BCS standings.





College football gets more revenue by having 3 more games.





Have the 2 second round games in Detroit (beautiful field)


and in Phoenix (another beauty)

I love college football and you are absolutely right on this one. The BCS is ridiculous this year. I thought that strength of schedule played into the formula...you could never tell it by me this year. Can someone explain why OSU has a SOS of 62 and they are ranked #1 in the BCS. Most common folks can not even remotely afford the price of bowl tickets this year. I understand that the participating colleges and conferences split this money...but come on!!!!
If all of the coaches voted for themselves, it would be a tie.





The system we have now has its problems, but it is much better than what we had in the past. Besides, it gives everyone something to argue about.





I don't see anyone walking away from it anytime soon!
