What influence do the media and one鈥檚 peers have on the concept of beauty?

Too much. All you see in the media is beautiful people. They have hairdressers, makeup artists, perfect clothing and lighting to make them look so good. Don't forget the air brushing.

We can never look like that on our own. I think TV influences people too much. I'm old and am tired of going on a web site to have a picture of a woman's wrinkled face pop out at me with a cure for wrinkles. These products for self improvement are everywhere. It tears down self-confidence badly.

As far as following one's peers, that is a whole other subject.

You can be one of the crowd or be yourself. Try setting the trends instead of following them. What influence do the media and one鈥檚 peers have on the concept of beauty?
We see beautiful people getting all the goodies...they have the most handsome bf's, have the best cars, the biggest homes, the most gorgeous clothes, the most ';stuff';. And for the most part, its all BS. Manufacturers create their market by making us believe that we need to have all that crap and we can get it by being ';beautiful'; by using their makeup, driving their cars and so on. We are BOMBARDED by this BS on a daily basis from all angles. Beauty IS only skin deep. A beautiful soul or spirit is long lasting and does not depend on anything external. What influence do the media and one鈥檚 peers have on the concept of beauty?
lots of bad influence.

i always see on tv, how all the only pretty girls are main chars, get dates, etc.

so now i always compare myself to others.
baad influence
If a person is not confident in themselves on a somewhat even keel level than they are at the mercy of the media and their peers. I myself do not like how I feel, jealous all the time and in constant comparison. How can I stop this or at least begin to work on it.
