PISSES me off...How come in beauty and the beast, the male has to be the beast and the woman the beauty?

It doesn't have to be that way round: you should rewrite the story!How come in beauty and the beast, the male has to be the beast and the woman the beauty?
Back when that movie came out, it wouldn't have made sense if it were the other way around.
They would've had to change the name to handsome and the beast or something like that.
Throughout history, women were thought of as having to be beautiful, while men could be monsters at times, or beasts. Plus, callling a man beautiful might hurt his ego. Calling him a beast may be better for some reason.
It sounds pretty wierd having a woman being a beast and the man being a beauty, in my opinion.
But in a lot of other fairy tales,
the woman is the evil one.

this idea doesn't really recur in every fairytale as someone else pointed out. go read something like cinderella or snow white if you want to read about the man being a knight and the wicked stepmother being a monster.
That's simply the way the story was written. Besides, in most fairy tails, the women are beasts; the wicked stepmother; the witch, etc.
